Privacy Policy

This page explains what houdhoud.com collects, where it goes, and what we keep. We've tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email hello@houdhoud.com.

What we collect

  • Quiz answers. When you take the quiz, your answers are encoded into the URL of the results page (the long string after ?a=). They are not stored on our servers. If you close the tab, they're gone. If you bookmark the URL, the bookmark itself contains your answers.
  • The optional grandparent name. If you choose to type a name to honor (for example, a grandparent), that name is encoded into the same URL alongside the rest of your answers. We don't store it server-side.
  • Stripe checkout information. When paid checkout ships, your payment details (card number, billing address, email) will be collected by Stripe — not by us. We never see or store your card number. We do receive your email address and the order identifier from Stripe so we can deliver the Name Story PDF.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-PFRE42RNF7) to count visits and understand which pages people read. Google receives your IP address, browser type, referrer, and pages viewed. Google may set cookies to recognize repeat visits.

What we send to other services

  • Anthropic (Claude API). When the results page loads, we send your quiz answers and the chosen name to Anthropic so the Claude language model can write Houdhoud's recommendations and the personalization paragraph in your Name Story. Anthropic processes the request to generate the response; per their commercial terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. The only personally identifying data in the request is the optional grandparent name, if you typed one.
  • Vercel. Our hosting provider. Vercel processes standard web-server logs (IP address, request timestamp, URL).
  • Cloudflare R2. Our planned object storage for the Name Story PDF and audio files (when those features ship). PDFs will be stored as files; the storage is private and accessed via signed download links.
  • Stripe. When paid checkout ships, Stripe handles payments. Stripe's privacy practices are described in their privacy policy.
  • Resend. When email delivery ships, Resend will send you a copy of your Name Story PDF. They process your email address and the message itself.

What we keep, and for how long

  • Quiz answers: we don't store them.
  • Order records: when paid checkout ships, we keep a record of paid orders (email, name story identifier, timestamp) for as long as required by tax and accounting law. We don't use this for marketing.
  • Name Story PDFs: when paid checkout ships, your PDF will be stored in Cloudflare R2 and made available via a signed download link for 30 days. After 30 days, the PDF is deleted and the link stops working. Save your copy.
  • Server logs and analytics data: retained per the standard retention windows of Vercel and Google Analytics. We don't download or warehouse this data ourselves.

Cookies

houdhoud.com uses two kinds of cookies:

  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) — recognize repeat visits and aggregate page views. You can opt out via Google's opt-out browser add-on or with a browser extension that blocks analytics.
  • Stripe cookies — (when paid checkout ships) — set by Stripe's checkout pages for fraud prevention. These only appear during a checkout session.

Children

houdhoud.com is for parents and families choosing names for an unborn or newborn child. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has interacted with the site, email hello@houdhoud.com and we'll delete what we have.

Your choices

  • You can take the quiz without giving us anything beyond what your browser sends automatically.
  • You can decline analytics by blocking cookies in your browser or using an ad-blocker.
  • You can ask us to delete any record we have about you (email address, order history) by writing to hello@houdhoud.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update the 'Last updated' date at the top of this page and, for material changes, post a notice on the homepage. Keep an eye out before ordering.
