This page explains what houdhoud.com does with your information. The short version: the site does very little with it, and we don't build a profile of you. If anything here is unclear, email hello@houdhoud.com.
What we collect
- Your quiz answers. When you take the quiz, your answers are encoded into the address of the results page (the long string after ?a=) so we can show you names. They are never stored on our servers — if you close the tab, they're gone. If you bookmark or share the link, the answers travel with that link.
- An optional name to honor. If you choose to type a name you'd like to honor — a grandparent, say — it's carried inside that same link alongside your other answers. We don't store it anywhere on our side.
- Basic, anonymous usage stats. If you accept cookies, we use a standard web-analytics service to count visits and see which pages get read — page views, rough location, browser type, and the site you arrived from. It's aggregate traffic data, not a profile of you. Decline the cookie banner and none of this is collected.
Services that help run the site
- An AI provider. To write Houdhoud's recommendations and the personalized paragraph in your Name Story, the site sends your quiz answers and chosen name to our AI provider. The only potentially identifying detail in that request is the optional name-to-honor, if you typed one. Under our commercial terms with the provider, that data is not used to train their models.
- Our hosting provider. The site runs on a standard cloud host, which keeps ordinary web-server logs — IP address, timestamp, and the page requested — to serve the site and protect against abuse.
- Error monitoring. We use an error-monitoring service to catch bugs. If something breaks, it records the technical details of the failure. Your quiz answers and any name you entered are stripped out before anything is sent, so those personal details never reach it.
What we keep
- Your answers and any name you entered: nothing — we never store them.
- Usage stats and server logs: held only by the analytics, hosting, and error-monitoring services above, under their own standard retention periods. We don't download, warehouse, or build our own database of any of it.
Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on houdhoud.com.
- Analytics cookies. Set only if you accept the cookie banner, and used only to measure aggregate traffic. Decline the banner and they're never set — and if you accepted and change your mind, you can clear cookies in your browser at any time.
- Your cookie choice. We remember whether you accepted or declined in your browser's local storage, so we don't ask again on every visit. It stays on your device and isn't sent to us.
Children
The site is meant for adults choosing a name for a child. It isn't directed at children, doesn't ask anyone's age, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@houdhoud.com and we'll remove it.
Your choices
- Use the site freely — the quiz asks nothing that identifies you, beyond what any browser sends automatically.
- Decline the cookie banner (or block cookies in your browser) to turn analytics off entirely.
- Email hello@houdhoud.com any time to ask what we hold about you and have it deleted.
Changes to this policy
If we start doing more with your data — for example, when paid orders launch — we'll update this page and change the 'Last updated' date above before the change takes effect.
